When Electric Forest music festival asked me if I'd be interested in giving a workshop in 2023, I was thrilled. I was tossing around a few ideas for my talk when they came back to me and said, "We want your talk to be titled 'Polyamory 101'".
Obviously I accepted because I love a challenge. But something about that title was really irking me. With the gig already booked and contracts signed, I did what any stuck millennial would do: I asked ChatGPT to write 10 segment titles for a talk called "Polyamory 101". The results were predictable. It regurgitated cliche (though relevant) segments about jealousy, consent, boundaries, etc..
As I stared at the wisdom of the AI, I finally realized what was bothering me about the talk title, and that realization became my main thesis: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "POLYAMORY 101".
